Writing is a socially acceptable form of schizophrenia. -- E.L. Doctorow

Alas, my blog doesn't include online comments, but feel free to share your responses with me at cyan@protgp.com 01/07/2006Now I shall bring you up-to-date on the financial success of this site. Naturally, as I sit here, sipping my martini on the beaches of St. Thomas, outside this four-star resort, traveling on the vast profits of this website-goldmine, I feel obliged to remember the little people who made it happen. In case, you haven't picked up on it, the above is what comes out when I attempt to write humor. To be more straight-forward about it, I've sold four more memberships since last time I reported to you, three in October and one in December. Yay! Let's see, at $10 per membership, minus the processing fee, and taking into account the expense of web hosting, that comes to, uh, hmm... Including the two additional six-month memberships that began within the past six months, I calculate that six people besides myself have the means to read the stories I just placed in the membership area. Membership numbers are still pretty low. They never were high, but when the well-known credit card companies began to apply their high fees to sites like mine, and the membership service that I use would no longer offer payment by these cards for sites like mine (because new rules meant they'd have to extract a large fee from me), people stopped joining my site. I believe the online purchase process for the average visitor is going to be a bit more complex, requiring a clear resolve on the potential purchaser. The annual fee to offer a credit card is far more than this site ever made in a year, even when people could use those cards. Thus, readership of the full site is a small, select group. How small? I did discover one thing recently about the site's memberships. Membership Plus, the membership service that I use, does not tell me who joined. Not names, addresses, phone numbers, or e-mail addresses. However, they do give me a little bit of information; specifically, the city from which the membership was purchased. What I recently noticed was that a couple of smallish cities have shown up more than once, and as I check back, these cities have shown in purchases at 6-month intervals. I conclude I have some repeat customers. Of course, that means even fewer people have joined than I previously believed, but that some of them are quite loyal. I had not figured people would re-up immediately when memberships ran out, but I sure do appreciate the gesture. Can't think of a better compliment. I am very grateful to all who join, repeat or not. I've always said that anyone who reads my free stories knows what they would get show they join: more of my kind of stories. I hope maintaining a similar degree of variety as well. 01/06/2006I finished and added my final stories for year 2005. I began 2005 with a bang, bringing out 17 stories by the end of March, then I slowed down to a crawl. But even so, I just added six more to cover October, November, and December, achieving with my target of two per month. Perhaps my writing will pick up again, but these days it feels like writing is a cop-out from real life, and I really need to get my real life in order. Two of the new stories are in the free section this time. "Company Policy" is about working for a company with a very kinky idea about how to achieve productivity. I classify it as a story that begins with a way-out premise, which I do my best to give plausibility. I wouldn't say that I achieve that, but I enjoy trying, and find the resulting mixes of surreal actions and somewhat-realistic reactions to be entertaining. The other free story, "Romantic Evening", is the kind of story where I start with a nice, romantic scene, then toss in some kink. I am a romantic, despite what you read here. Really. The member section has four new stories. "Good Time" is about a woman who agrees to hide a video for a friend, and also agrees not to watch it. Let's all predict what happens. The germ of this story was a sex scene in which the participants seem almost bored. I do like enthusiasm, but there is an attitude, especially in d/s situations that I find strangely alluring, of the bored participant. Almost like a bored prostitute, but without the obvious monetary motivation. It merely hints at an apparent incomprehensible motivation. Perhaps this suggests a character's inner need, with the appeal of him or her being desperate for whatever sex is in the making. "New Experience" is a little story built around what struck me would be an outrageous person ad. It naturally develops with a narrator feeling very conflicted about the ad. "Plausible Character" is about a sad sack of a college student who clearly does not have his act together and pays for it dearly. The story-idea stemmed from a scenario consisting of a student being dominated more-or-less publicly in a class full of women. I ended up fitting a little moral into the story, but don't worry because I won't make a habit of that. "Not Sex" is also about a college student, this one, a woman whose roommate thinks college is life's opportunity for casual lesbian experimentation. The germ of the story for me was a scene where she succumbs to an unconventional come-on. The story-idea grew when I thought up with an opening scene, then found myself constructing a final scene that touches on the opening. The final scene grew in my mind and I ended up writing it first. In contrast to this, I usually write first drafts from beginning to end, preceding that with no more than a paragraph synopsis, and perhaps a couple of lines of crucial dialog I don't want to forget. Among the devices in these stories, one that I observe is the narrator who doesn't pick up on everything. In the past, I've attempted stories where I aim to give the reader a whole different story than the narrator is explaining, with the narrator not picking up on a crucial point. It's interesting to try and make that work. These six don't go that far, but there is a particular scene where a character's phrasing reveals the point that her "interesting relationship" is not yet over. It's fun to make the narrator finally pick up on such a thing a whole paragraph later, but in this case, I never developed that and the narrator never indicated she picked it up. Another thing I like to write are conversations where communication is coming up short because the participants have far different, possibly distracting issues on their minds. The narrator in "Plausible Character" is distracted a bit. And the lengthy final scene in "Not Sex" is a stilted conversation between two women with decidedly different goals. "Not Sex" also strikes me as a combination of the real and the surreal. It's one of those stories that grows far too outrageous to be taken at face value, but then I spent considerable time trying to make various parts of it come across. Incongruous. Something I achieved a bit this time was to restrain myself from letting the stories devolve into total orgies. I don't actually write about group sex, but sometimes my stories do go south at the end, throwing in more sex, more sex partners, introducing spanking, hints of more kinds of sex, and so forth. Perhaps that can be good, but I also think it can take away from some stories. Some stories that aren't really about spanking at all end up with a mention near the end as if that is what will come next. I resisted temptation in these stories. Well, happy reading. 10/04/2005I posted my new stories. In the membership side are five. "Driving Home" is about a man who finds himself a reluctant center of attention at a party. "Held Up" is about what happens in some households when you're late getting home to your husband. "Latent Desire" is an intimate peek the adventures of a group of very dominant women in their more vulnerable moments. "Right Now" recounts a startling turn of events for a man when he goes hiking with his sister. And "Third Wheel" is about a wife who finds that renting a room to a pretty graduate student can cause problems. One new free story, "Feeling Lost", about a woman who has her hands full trying to figure out what is going on between her husband and her best friend. 10/03/2005I'm back! Did anyone miss me? Believe it or not, I have six stories to post, which I'll tell you about when I post them, very soon. I found three stories from this past April that I'd never posted, and wrote three more. I've done considerable link cleanup, and even though I haven't been here in the blog or adding stories, I've been continuing my usual review of the links to get rid of ones that no longer lead to what they formerly did. Among my big news is that the site has two new members. A new membership on August 2 another on September 17. But hey, members are members. Two more folks to indulge in all three hundred of the stories. Or at least more than the sixty free stories. My recent links. From Jane's ongoing reviews, I found Brandy Wynne's The Erotic Bard, and Miriam Wynn's worderotic.com, as well as the e-zine, SexHerald.com and the blog Zeppellina. From ERWA, I found Madelynne Ellis's site. On ASSTR, I saw reference to Nick Scipio's site and at the asstr.org site, I found Cate's Perfumed Garden of Erotic Fantasy and Zebulon's Page. I was kindly offered a chance to swap links with Sex Fantasies. I passed on the offer, but it's a beautiful site so I added a link to it. I scored a link at Your Weblog Here, and while I was there, I ran across Strange Porn. I also scored a link at Sex For Your Head. I found a Erotic Stories when I noticed a referral from them, because they host the Open Directory adult links. I asked for a link from Search4Bondage.com but haven't heard anything. Other sites I found surfing are The Spanking Blog (not to be confused with Spanking Blog), and RootGarden. 07/29/2005Some news from the last couple of months that I haven't mentioned yet: I updated the style of the descriptions page, including when I began the story. I go back and tweak stories, so sometimes the copyright date doesn't reflect when I wrote the bulk of it as well as when I began it. Somewhat-recently added links: there's F*ck for forest (why not?) which I saw at Tart's Porn Zone. At Real Lesbian Porn, I found LezloveVideo.com, for lesbian-themed videos (no great free samples but they do have reviews of the videos they sell), and Celtic Heart's Erotic Fiction. Spanking Blogia is a spanish-language blog that I discovered through Spanking Blog. And two other links that I don't remember where I got: My Spanking Digest from Sassy Jane; and SarAdora's Spanking Erotica, with spanking stories. Jane's Guide always has interesting new links, including Gwen Masters Erotica, a personal erotic fiction site; Tell Your Sex Story, a blog of stories; GaggedUtopia's Story Archive for BDSM stories; Severin's World, another personal story site; and remittance girl, with stories and a blog. Then there is The Erotic Journey, The Writing Heart, Walkin' Pussy (about the book), and Sally Painter, a few of the varied sites of folks associated with Erotica Readers & Writers Association. Also, I scored a link at Strap-On Lovers Guide To The WWW, which I first found at Jane's Guide some time back. Certainly that is a recurring theme in the stories here. And Pucky's was kind enough to link to me, and I don't even remember asking! I also asked for and received links from blogwise and blogcatalog.com. Thanks to all! Also, I found that some of my existing links have blogs: tiny nibbles and Ms Naughty, which has also linked to me (Thanks!).
07/27/2005Well, it's time I said something here. I haven't been writing lately, a real dry spell. However, I probably overdid it earlier this year, and in the past, I've always returned to writing. I haven't been writing here either. But I have been doing one thing all along which is working on the links page, checking my existing Links, and occasionally adding new ones. I try to do a little each week. Also, I continue to record my story-ideas, and some have come close to inducing me to write, but not quite. But I'll take this opportunity to tell you about a little bit of playing I've done, looking at website statistics. I've had around a million and a half visitors since this site opened about three years ago, which amazes me. When you offer free stuff, I guess you can get a response. What the statistics also tell me are which stories have been most popular. Instead of telling you that, I'm going to tell you something else: which stories I think are apparently underrated. Of course I like some of the stories more than others, and in some cases I see what looks to me like a good story being downloaded a lot. In other cases, it's a story that I don't think of as one of my best that people are looking at. The stories I'm listing here are the stories that I think are good, or worth a look, but haven't been downloaded as much as they might. Some of the better stories, at least in my judgment, are: "Nice Girl", about a man who discovers that that woman whom he imagines would be perfect to bring home to Mom, has hidden qualities; "Small Favor", an older story of mine about a woman who happens to show up just when friends of hers can use some unusual assistance; "Special Provision", about an erotica writer who signed an unusual contract to get her story published; and "True Nature", about a straight woman who becomes obsessed with a woman in a movie, then wonders what that means about herself. The following are some of my longer, more elaborate stories: "Expensive Hobby", sort of a science-fiction, dream-like story of life in a "controlling" place; "Improved Relation", about a couple's experiences with relationship assistance that may have an ulterior motive; "Still Friends", which begins with a guy discovering interesting home-made video tapes hidden at his girlfriend's place; and "Totally Crazy", about a woman who discovers her best friend has a thing for women, and more. The following are either shorter, or I don't think of them as having substance, but I'd guess they are easy reads and they may well strike your mood: "Human Resources", about a woman who has just joined a company; "More Fun", about a woman who flirts too much, or at least her female friends think so; "Oh Yes", probably one of several stories I've written about a straight women looking for advice about a strap-on; "Our Needs", a short about a woman attempting to take control of the business her ex left her; and "Realistic Plans", about a bride's plans for her wedding night. Enjoy! 05/14/2005Haven't written here in a while. Well, I may be writing soon. I've had a little break, and now I'm finding myself thinking up story ideas, several of which I'd like to pursue. That's my pattern: nothing, then ideas come, then one comes that I just have to write down, then I find myself slipping out of RL and into a relationship with this keyboard I'm typing on as we speak. Lately I've felt the desire to explain my writing in the sense of describing what I find erotic and how that affects my stories. I'll put that off for another entry, but I'm telling you now so you can run and hide. You probably don't want to be in the vicinity when a writer lets loose. Something I have been doing is checking links. I add any link that strikes my fantasy to my links page, enough so it grows stale with bad links. So I try to go through them once a year. I'm catching up and verified a bunch of sites yesterday and today. Among the new links I've added recently are jpcworld, an amazing collection of female/female spanking drawings which I saw mentioned on The Collar Purple, and 99 Erotic Notions which I saw reviewed at Jane's Guide. I don't remember where I found CARSTUCKGIRLS.com, but when I saw it, I just couldn't help myself. The world needs to know that sites like this exist, and I'm doing my part. I also found the picture site, Bad Girls Blog while surfing. Lacey Diamond and Ann Cory are associated with Erotica Readers & Writers Association. I submitted this blog to Blog Universe, blogarama, and Bloghub.com. There are enough such indexes that I doubt I'll pursue another unless I see evidence that it is really popular. 04/26/2005I wrote two stories last night, "Held Up" and "Latent Desire". They were in my mind and I wasted quite a bit of an evening getting them "on paper". Both are slice-of-life stories about groups of folks who have a bit of ongoing D/S in their lives. Also, in both cases, the "surprise" of the story is to you, the reader. The narrators face a few difficulties but they Know All from the start. More often, I aim to let the reader share the narrators' surprise and amazement, and I actually feel an author is cheating you a bit if they make a story out of deliberately drawing out the revelation to you, the reader, what's going on, when no main character shares your discovery. But I suppose an occasional such story adds variety to my story collection. A difference between the two stories is that one is male-dominant/female-submissive and the other is the opposite. This fulfills my target of two stories per month for this month. We still have a few days left, so it's not impossible that I'd produce more. I'm adding a few more links. Nina Hugo is another writer involved with Erotica Readers & Writers Association. I got the lesbian spanking blog, Pink Bottomed Girls and the French site, Discipline Domestique from the blog, A Creative Spanked Wife. Also, I have had Rachel Kramer Bussel's site link, but am adding a link directly to her blog, Lusty Lady, which I saw mentioned at Spanking Blog. Back in February, I promised to share some of my likes regarding erotic art, specifically paintings, drawings, comics, and computer art that you run across online. I have come to know artists through postings that likely violate copyrights, yet the experience has given me a familiarity with artists I may well have missed entirely otherwise. Perhaps the art that appeals to me most these days is that of Lynn Paula Russell, who does wonderful male-dominant/female-submissive spanking pictures and comic books, along with female/female-themed pictures. (She also had an interesting career under the name "Paula Meadows".) Her pictures have a realistic feel, and seem to me to capture female submission. She does have some older man/younger women pictures and I'm more drawn to pictures of people the same age. Sardax, of Sardax.com, does beautiful female-dominant domination, bondage, and whipping pictures, that often give you the feeling that the women aren't angry, merely doing what a woman does with a man. Often, the women don't show glee, but a mild enjoyment which I find very appealing. Sardax's site is pay now, but has samples of his work, and he has contributed to other sites as well as illustrations, book covers, and the like. I was astounded when I first saw examples from the amazing comic books of Rebecca, who now packages her work in a paysite. Her books were entitled "Housewives At Play", and she depicted young, pretty, clean-cut housewives in a suburban setting, doing nasty things to each other. This reflects my stories in a way, but despite the appeal I feel, she does cross lines that I'm shying away from, sometimes giving her art a slightly vicious taste. Also, to serve her jokes, she'll depict public sex, to the point that you have to grant her a bit of fantasy. A blog I ran across a few months ago is Le blog de Camille, which has nearly daily drawings in Camille's own style, covering a variety of themes including lesbian, transsexual, and grotesques. Not all of these themes are my cup of tea, yet the pictures fascinate me. Some other sites with interesting personal artwork I've found are Anna's Erotic Art, Eroszona, Art for Engineers, Sex Art by Mister, Marcus Gray, the beautiful work of Marci McDonald, the fascinating work of Tamara Lempicka, Agnes' illustrations, E B Erotic, and A Creative Spanked Wife, who's beautiful spanking art is somewhat reminiscent of Lynn Paula Russell's. From these, you can probably see that I like drawings, fantasy art, pin-ups, some "artsy" work and retro art, and, of course, D/S and spanking. Among sites that carry a good bit of art is the paysite, Firegirls.com, which does have considerable art previews, ArtFan.Net, Iris for you, which unfortunately has gone pay, and The Pin-up Files, which has nice, free galleries of quite a few pin-up artists. 04/24/2005I haven't posted here for a little while. I haven't been writing stories either though I did record an idea. RL has been busy and the writing mood hasn't come upon me to get me to push RL aside. I never worry, because the writing mood always returns. I like other sorts of fiction besides erotica. I read science fiction, fantasy, romance, and even young adult books. Though the stories you see here tend to be raw lust (but raw lust taking hold of the nicest people), I'm also drawn to innocent romance and friendship in stories. I think some people like hot sex mixed with romance, and others might be drawn to each but enjoy stories that emphasize one or the other but not both. I like "all of the above", but I have to admit that if you judge me by the stories and novels, I read and write, they are often either romantic or sexual and not both. How did I get on this topic? Well, recently I set out to create the beginning of a fantasy novel, the set-up. I dreamed up a couple of scenes about a modern couple, perhaps more friends than romantic partners, finding themselves transported into an unknown territory peopled by folks living in ancient- or medieval-like society, and beginning to find their way, presumably to lead to adventure and romance. The problem is, after the couple won acceptance at the first village they ran across, I began creating this fantasy-society's marriage customs, which were clearly crafted to push people's D/S buttons. It was practically Gorean. It's as if I can't help myself. I've figured if I try to break out of erotica, fantasy is a very likely genre and I've plotted some novels. But I find it hard to avoid bringing in erotic elements when I work on them. But it's probably moot in any case. I've been toying with fantasy-novel plots for a bunch of years but haven't managed to come up with much writing. I've added a whole bunch of links since the last time I wrote here. Four links, Beyond You & Me, Laura Baumbach, Angelique Flowers, and Jean de Cherie are by folks active in the Erotica Readers & Writers Association. Two more writing-oriented sites recently reviewed by Jane's Guide are www.eroticwriting.co.uk and The Story Finder. Jane's Guide also reviewed VicePorn, a pay site with some good previews. I think it was an oversight that I didn't already have Heather Corinna's paysite, femmerotic.com. Lastly, VoyeurNetwork.com offered to link to me so I took them up on it. 04/09/2005I've added two new blog links: Bondage Blog, and the famous Gloria Brame's Blog; as well as Julie Jolie, a paysite with some free photos; Paris Waterman, another collection of original erotic stories hosted by the Alt.Sex.Stories Text Repository; and Lacy Savage, with her erotic romance titles. I received some nice story comments from a reader today. Writers live for that. And this past Monday, two site membership sales came through. So 2005 is keeping up its record of at least one sale during each month, after a bunch of dry months during the latter half of 2004. There are a lot of lonely stories in the membership area.
